ABOUT IUOE LOCAL 832
Local 832 is comprised of a Hoisting & Portable and Stationary
Department; as a result our Local is considered a “mixed” Local
by the International Union of Operating Engineers.
The Hoisting & Portable
Charter of I.U.O.E. Local 832 was established on December 31,
1938, encompassing the jurisdiction of the Counties of Allegany,
Chemung, Eastern part of Genesee (including City of Batavia),
Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Schuyler, Steuben, Wayne and Yates
and has grown to include Technical Engineers and Stationary
Engineers with jurisdiction in the above Counties and also
the Counties of St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, Oneida,
Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Madison, Tompkins, Cortland and Herkimer
(west of the line through the railroad station at Little Falls).
Local 832 Operating Engineers perform a diverse set of skills
and serve in many capacities from crane operators, heavy
equipment operators, landfill operators, boiler operators,
HVAC engineers and surveyors to pit and quarry operators and
heavy equipment service technicians.
